Compute
Clusters, serverless, runtimes.
Serverless compute access controlGALets workspace admins control who can run serverless workloads through two built-in serverless compute objects: Default Interactive Compute for notebooks and Databricks Connect, and Default Automated Compute for jobs and Spark Declarative Pipelines. Each object has two permission levels, Can Use and Can Manage, and all workspace users have Can Use by default. Databricks SQL, Model Serving, Lakebase and Databricks Apps are not covered by these controls.1
- Serverless rate limitsPrivate preview
Storage
Delta Lake, Lakebase, table formats.
Delta LakeGAOpen-source storage layer that extends Parquet data files with a file-based transaction log for ACID transactions and scalable metadata handling. It is the default table format on Databricks and lets batch and Structured Streaming workloads use a single copy of data.3
- FILE Column TypeBetaA column type that stores a governed reference to an unstructured file, such as a document, image, audio or video file, together with metadata such as URI, size, content type and checksum, so files sit alongside structured columns in Unity Catalog tables. With FILE MANAGED columns, Unity Catalog stores copies of the files and keeps them in sync with the table's rows.
- Iceberg v3GANative support for the Apache Iceberg v3 spec: deletion vectors, row lineage, and the VARIANT type, across managed, foreign, and UniForm tables.
LakebaseGAFully managed Postgres database on Databricks for transactional (OLTP) workloads that run alongside lakehouse data. It provides autoscaling compute, scale-to-zero, instant branching, automated backups and point-in-time recovery.8
- Managed IcebergGAUnity Catalog managed Iceberg tables you can create, read, and write from any Iceberg engine via the Iceberg REST Catalog APIs.
Data engineering
Lakeflow, pipelines, ingestion.
AUTO CDCGAThe AUTO CDC and AUTO CDC FROM SNAPSHOT APIs in Lakeflow pipelines, which process a change data feed or a series of database snapshots into SCD Type 1 or Type 2 tables without hand-written merge logic. They replaced the APPLY CHANGES APIs, with the same syntax, and the FLOW AUTO CDC clause brings the same flows to streaming tables in Databricks SQL.1
LakeflowGADatabricks' end-to-end data engineering solution for ingestion, transformation and orchestration. It includes Lakeflow Connect for ingestion connectors, Lakeflow pipelines built on Spark Declarative Pipelines (formerly DLT), Lakeflow Jobs (formerly Databricks Jobs) for orchestration, and Lakeflow Designer, a visual tool for building transformations with a drag-and-drop canvas or natural language.2
- Real-time mode in Spark Structured StreamingGAA Structured Streaming trigger that processes each event as it arrives instead of in micro-batches, giving end-to-end latency in milliseconds for workloads such as fraud detection and personalization. It runs on classic compute with dedicated or standard access, while real-time mode inside Lakeflow pipelines is a separate Public Preview.
- Zerobus IngestGAFully managed, serverless push-based streaming ingest API that writes data directly from any producer into Delta tables governed by Unity Catalog.
AI & ML

It is in Public Preview on Azure and Private Preview on AWS, with Google Cloud support in development.
How this list is maintained
Every entry traces to a public Databricks source. We extract feature mentions from blog posts as they land, normalize the names, and stamp the status the post claims. We do not have the private-AE roadmap — if a feature exists but hasn't been publicly mentioned, it won't be here. See a stale entry or a missing one? Tell us.
