Unity Gateway is the Databricks governance layer for enterprise AI, built on Unity Catalog, that controls which models, agents, MCP servers and tools teams can use. It routes AI traffic across providers, applies guardrails and rate limits, and tracks usage and cost in one place; service policies and agent services are still in Beta. It launched in Beta as AI Gateway, was later called Unity AI Gateway, and is separate from the older AI Gateway for model serving endpoints.
