More from databricks/dbt-databricks
The v1.13.0 release adds additive merging of tblproperties across config levels and opt-in invocation telemetry, and it includes a breaking change for some view models: views now use one materialization regardless of use_materialization_v2, so view_update_via_alter alters Unity Catalog views in place and fails on Hive metastore views. Fixes cover view updates with dropped or renamed columns, Predictive Optimization for auto_liquid_cluster models, transaction: false hooks, materialized view recreation on schema drift, and persist_docs.columns warnings and comments.
dbt-databricks 1.12.8
dbt-databricks 1.12.8 raises the minimum certifi version to 2026.10.23 to pick up a security fix in its CA certificate bundle. This is the release's only change, so installs will pull the newer certifi and no other behavior changes.
Session closure no longer holds the connection manager lock, preventing concurrent query stalls and premature cluster auto-terminations mid-run. Incremental runs now handle primary and foreign key constraints deterministically to eliminate drop-and-recreate churn, duplicate constraint errors, and AWS view replacement failures.
Workload identity federation authentication is now supported via environment and file-based OIDC profile configurations. Key fixes resolve grant reconciliation crashes and improve tag preservation and automatic refresh behavior for materialized views and streaming tables.
Metric views now replace existing tables or views using a backup-and-create strategy rather than direct create-or-replace syntax. Lazily formatted Databricks SQL log records are also now properly interpolated when mirrored into dbt logs.
v1.12.4 fixes three bugs: case-insensitive SQL credential redaction, composite unique key deletion on DBR <17.1, and quote escaping in relation comments. databricks-sql-connector is updated to 4.4.0 to fix three CVEs including TLS hostname bypass and DoS vulnerabilities.
